21221. Indian Pharma: a strategic sector from ‘Make in India’ to ‘Make and Develop in India’
- Poised to grow to USD 120 to 130 billion by 2030, the pharma sector contributes significantly to India’s economic growth— 1.7 percent to the country’s GDP last year as compared to its contribution at one percent, a decade ago. The Indian pharmaceutical industry is US$42bn in size and ranks third worldwide for production by volume and thirteenth by value.

21222. Expedite employment generation in Mizoram for rural development: Union minister
- Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste on Friday said employment generation in rural areas should be expedited to develop the people.
- During an interaction with officials of rural development department, Kulaste emphasised the importance of expediting employment generation in rural areas through various Central schemes to ensure that people have a regular income. He urged the officials to strengthen and popularise Self Help Groups (SHGs) and also to expand the existing marketing network for the benefit of SHGs.
- The minister further said that the Centre is making efforts to develop a small state like Mizoram. Among others, the Centre has allocated Rs 500 crore for the construction of a by-pass road in Aizawl and another Rs 100 crore for a pilot project (bamboo link roads) across Mizoram in the union budget. Citing about the strategic location of Mizoram, the Union Minister said he would inform the Centre to increase funds allocation under Border Area Development Programme (BADP).

21223. Assam: Over 4,900 militants settled in mainstream life last year
- Relentless efforts on the part of the state government to bring insurgent groups to the mainstream to establish peace and harmony in the last one year has resulted in the rehabilitation of nearly 4,962 surrendered militants of different rebel groups, including the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (Ulfa-I) and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
- Around 1,000 members of Bru militant outfits, Bru Liberation Army-Union (BLAU) and the United Democratic Liberation Army (UDLA) will surrender in Assam's Barak valley soon.
- The government has provided financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to each of the rehabilitated surrendered members of the insurgent groups. Almost all of them are engaged in cultivation and farming. Skill development training under the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development has been given to the youths. Around 70 youths have opened a sandal factory in Udalguri while 43 have started goat farming in Darrang district and a few have opened home stay business.

- Chennai-based Vinata Aeromobility is all set to launch its autonomous hybrid flying car on 5 October at the world's largest Helitech Exhibition.

- Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted that he was introduced to the concept model of Asia’s First Hybrid flying car by the young team of a Chennai-based startup.
21225. LG to lay foundation stone of Tawi River front development project today
- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will be launching mega projects of public welfare and first ever sports policy at different events here on 12 feb.
- Official sources said that LG Sinha will inaugurate Drug De Addiction Centre at Channi Himmat on Saturday morning. This will be the second drug de addiction centre to be set up at Jammu. The existing one is located at District Police Lines. Thereafter, Sinha will lay foundation of the ‘River Tawi Front’, the much awaited project of people of Jammu.

21227. Tata & Airbus Sign Rs 22,000 Crore Deal To Manufacture C-295 Aircraft In Uttar Pradesh
- Tata & Airbus have signed a deal of Rs. 22,000 crore with the central govt to manufacture C-295 military aircraft in India. The manufacturing unit will be in UP.
- This is the biggest private manufacturing military order to date. The deal was signed under the ambit of the Make in India initiative, launched by the PM Modi government to build an “AtmanirbharBharat ”.
- This was one of the many initiatives taken by the Central government to promote the involvement of the private sector in defence manufacturing. Tata, Airbus will be manufacturing 40 C-295 aircraft in India, at its manufacturing plant, proposed to be in Uttar Pradesh and the rest 16 will be transported from Europe within two years.
21228. DPR for J&K metrolite project likely to get central nod on February 17
- In a major development, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared for Metrolite in Jammu and Srinagar is likely to be approved by the centre on February 17.
- Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of the Tawi River Front in Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha said that the DPR for the metrolite project will be approved on February 17. He informed that a meeting would be held on February 17, wherein he is hopeful that the centre government will clear DPR.
- The metrolite project will come up at the cost of Rs 7942 crore. In Jammu, the project would cost Rs 3593 crore, and in Srinagar, it would cost Rs 4352 crore.” “Jammu Light Rail System will have a 23-kilometer length with 22 stations between Bantalab and Bari Brahmana; whereas Srinagar Light Rail System will have a 25-kilometre length, which included 12.5-kilometre length from Indira Nagar to HMT Junction and 12.5-kilometer length from Hazuri Bagh to Osmanabad with 24 stations (12 stations on each corridor),”
21229. Equinix, Nokia team up to provide production framework for testing 5G and edge solutions
- Digital infrastructure company Equinix said it has deployed a 5G and Edge Technology Development Center which includes an operational non-standalone 5G network from Finnish telecoms gear maker Nokia to test and validate 5G services and use cases.
- Nokia IP solutions underpin Equinix Fabric, providing seamless interconnection between its global data centers.

21230. Defence Ministry to procure 118 Arjun Mk 1A Main Battle Tanks
- Main Battle Tank Mk-1A is a new variant of Arjun Tank that has been designed to enhance mobility, survivability and firepower.
- The main battle tank has been indigenously designed and developed by Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) along with other DRDO laboratories within two years (2010-12)
- The Union Ministry of Defence placed an order on September 23, 2021 to procure 118 Main Battle Tanks Arjun Mk 1A for the Indian Army at a cost of Rs 7,523 crores. The development is expected to give a further boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative
